Vajrayogini Thangka — Dorje Phagmo, the Supreme Red Dakini

Vajrayogini (Tibetan: Dorje Phagmo, “Vajra Sow”) is the supreme female Buddha of the Anuttarayoga Tantra — the most exalted dakini in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and the root deity of the Chakrasamvara cycle. Blazing red, standing in ardhaparyanka posture with a curved flaying knife raised in her right hand and a skull cup of bliss-nectar in her left, she embodies the fierce, transformative wisdom that cuts through ego, attachment, and the root of cyclic existence. Vajrayogini practice is considered the swiftest path to enlightenment in the Kagyu and Gelug traditions, and her thangka is the central icon of her sadhana and retreat.
