Gandhanra Mahakala thangkas depict Nagpo Chenpo in three principal canonical forms: Two-Armed Bernagchen (black-cloaked, holding kartrika and kapala, standing on a prone figure), Four-Armed Mahakala (holding kartrika, kapala, trident, and lasso, adorned with a crown of five skulls and elephant-skin cloak), and Six-Armed Shadbhuja Mahakala (holding six attributes including vajra, trident, and damaru, associated with the Chakrasamvara cycle). All compositions follow the Dharmapala iconographic canon as transmitted through Kagyu, Gelug, and Sakya Himalayan lineage ateliers.
