Spiritual Meaning – Scorpion Guru
According to Tibetan Buddhist tradition, Padmasambhava attained profound realization through a mystical encounter at the charnel ground of Rajgriha, where a gigantic multi-headed scorpion revealed the sacred teachings of the kīla (phurba).
The scorpion’s sting represents swift, wrathful compassion
Its many eyes and limbs symbolize different paths (yanas) to enlightenment
This form is linked to Guru Dragpo (Wrathful Lotus)
As a result, the scorpion became a powerful emblem in the Nyingma (Ancient School) lineage—associated with:
Protection against negative forces
Spiritual transformation
Removal of obstacles
